Where are hammocks from? – HÄNG

Where are hammocks from?

A good thing

Did you know that a hammock is the only piece of furniture in which you can relax for a very long time without feeling the need to reposition yourself?

This is due to the fact that a hammock distributes the weight evenly over its entire length and does not create so called pressure points.

Hammocks. From South America to the world.

The first forms of hammocks served as resting and sleeping accommodations in Latin America. But Columbus quickly learned to appreciate this type of accommodation on his travels to America around 1492.

Soon it turned out that hammocks are very well suited for accommodation on ships, because even with a strongly rocking ship one still lies straight. And so hammocks started their journey to Europe relatively soon.

Due to the temperature they didn't necessarily find the same appeal there but  the cloth construction gathered some fans anyway.

Hammocks can be divided into cloth and woven hammocks. They are often available with or without a so-called "spreader bar". (Protip: The ones with a spreader bar are also the ones you can easily fall out of).

Due to its bundled ends you cannot fall out of a HÄNG.

New fabrics and technologies have made it possible for hammocks to become increasingly weatherproof and lighter. Today they are replacing the tent for outdoor enthusiasts in many parts of the USA. And it was from here that the trend slipped over into the leisure sector.

We think every human deserves a hammock. And we can proudly say that after many years of testing and sewing, we have created probably the most comfortable leisure hammock in the world.

Doing nothing can be a very special science and you can only really relax if everything, but also absolutely everything, is perfect. With our hammocks made of parachute silk we would like to make a contribution but also give all people a little incentive to explore the surrounding nature or simply to read a good book again.
